This fast-paced, large scale project required forward-thinking and customized solutions in a narrow time frame.

THE NEED

Our client needed a large capacity fractionator with multiple feeds for the separation of NGL components in the Marcellus/Utica shale region. This large-scale project came with a strict ten-month deadline from concept to delivery.

OUR SOLUTION

Drawing upon our extensive experience, reliable supplier base and innovative spirit we developed a plan that was both effective and efficient to meet the client’s needs and exceed their expectations. To optimize process efficiency, we devised a heat integration scheme to reduce the heat medium heater duty, thereby reducing emissions in the process. To ensure that the finished product was as timely as it was intuitive, we inspected equipment and coordinated a transportation/delivery schedule with the client to keep things running smoothly.

Our client’s biggest advantage was delivered in the form of an operator-friendly stick-built plant. While not standard in midstream operations, the off-module layout was more conducive to this large-scale project, facilitating faster equipment shipping and greater accessibility for Operations and Maintenance personnel.

WHAT WE LEARNED

When it comes to specialty projects, sometimes the conventional approach isn’t the most efficient. By going beyond the scope of our original contract, we effectively served as a ‘one-stop shop’ for our clients. As new needs and challenges arose, we responded, adding commissioning specialists, and construction site coordinators to see the job through to the very end. By delivering services that go above and beyond the call of duty, we’ve inspired trust and developed a solid relationship that has resulted in repeat business from the client.

RESULTS

Abandoning conventional modular design in favor of the stick-built plant enabled this large-scale project to go from concept to delivery without exceeding the 10-month timeframe, even as the size and scope of the project continued to expand.
